Making sure your financial aid is ready to go:

By now, you should have filed the FAFSA and received a financial aid package. Check with the financial aid office to make sure your financial aid and all appropriate steps have been completed for your aid to apply to the university bill. This will avoid any unnecessary financial delays when trying to register for classes for the next semester. 

Make sure student loans are accepted and ready to apply:

Being awarded student loans does not mean they have applied to the bill automatically. If you would like to receive your federal student loans, you need to accept them and make sure the Master Promissory Note and Entrance Counseling are completed in advance. If necessary, apply for additional loans as well. 

Once your loans are accepted and the necessary steps have been completed, they will apply to your bill.  

Registering for classes:

In order to register for classes for the following semesters, your bill will need to be paid. For it to be paid, you will want to make sure your aid has been accepted if needed and applied to the bill. This will reduce any leftover costs that may need to be paid out of pocket or with additional loans. 

Keep in mind that before the 10th day of classes, your aid will adjust to how many credits you are taking, whether you are full-time, half-time, or part-time. After the 10th day, your aid will remain the same.
